MCGives: Build the movement to support local seafood

This is part of a series exploring the different areas of our work that are made possible by your contributions. We’re proud to join in the annual Monterey County Gives! campaign this year: November 11 to December 31, 2021.

At Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust, we’re building a movement to support, buy, and enjoy local seafood in Monterey Bay.

In fact, it’s one of our most important goals: ensuring that sustainably harvested Monterey Bay seafood ends up on local dinner plates. Our Local Catch Guide is a favorite tool to help people get started, making it easy to find and enjoy local seafood. From “off the boat” sales and CSF programs, to markets and restaurants, it shows where to find and enjoy the latest catch. We know that simple tools like this make a big difference. (There have been more than 38,000 views of the guide since it launched!)

We’re also building a strong community online where we share helpful resources and amplify stories about #MontereyBaySeafood. This work builds connections in the community and increases demand, interest, and understanding of local seafood. Through our online resources, you can get to know the fishing community; learn about fishing methods; get tips for enjoying seafood; and explore our seafood recipes. With your support, we’ll continue to grow and amplify these resources and expand our reach.

Make a contribution today to support the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust and the movement for local, sustainably harvested seafood.

The Monterey County Gives! campaign is designed to inspire local philanthropy for local nonprofits—including the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust. You’re invited to contribute! Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support MBFT in the year ahead. At the end of the campaign, each nonprofit receives 100% of their donations, along with a matching gift from participating community partners.
