On Dec 27th, Trump signed a new stimulus package including another $300 million in assistance to fisheries participants to help mitigate coronavirus-related economic impacts. There is still no word on how these funds will be allocated to each state, or how California will then allocate the funds to fishery participants, but we will update this page as we learn more. You can check this CDFW webpage for information on how they allocated the first round of fisheries relief funds to fishing businesses.
COVID-19 Business Resources*
The California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program provides grants between $5K and $25K to businesses impacted by COVID-19. On February 23rd, Governor Newsom signed into law a comprehensive package providing an additional $2 billion for this program.
The California Rebuilding Fund helps impacted and underserved small businesses that have had difficulties accessing capital rebuild from the economic crisis and keep local economies strong. The Fund is an innovative public-private partnership that provides free support and services and affordable loans to small businesses as they navigate the challenges of COVID-19.
Disaster Relief Loan Guarantee Program -The State of California has allocated $50 million to the Small Business Finance Center at California’s IBank to support small business access to capital for those small businesses (1-750 employees) that may not qualify for federal funds (including businesses in low-wealth and immigrant communities). California Treasurer’s Office has a small business loan program with special disaster assistance that is used by CDFIs, banks, and other lenders. CalCAP’s Covid-19 considerations are HERE. To apply, find a lender HERE.
Housing for the Harvest program - This program is designed to provide temporary hotel housing options for essential food processing employees who are either COVID-19 positive or exposed.
