A Special Dinner Celebration at Wild Fish - March 24th

Food – It’s something to celebrate. It brings us together, starts conversations, fills our bellies, makes us smile, comforts us, and simply makes us feel good. Knowing where our food comes from makes the experience of eating it extra special. When you can envision the farm or farmer who grew your produce or the fisherman who reeled in the daily catch, it adds a special something to the food you consume that you simply can’t find purchasing it from a grocery store.

Think about the last time you picked up carrots or greens from your local farmer’s market – didn’t dinner that night taste that much better?  If you’re not up for cooking yourself, a great alternative is to support restaurants that value locally procured products. Wild Fish, located in the heart of Pacific Grove, is one of these very special places. The chef procures seasonal, locally grown and caught ingredients that offer a literal taste of the Monterey Bay region when you dine with them.

When Liz Jacobs, one of the owners of Wild Fish, called and asked if we would like to partner with them to host the first of their three-part dinner series, “Hooked, The Sea and Sip Dinner Series,” we couldn’t resist. This special evening will include a conversation with one of Monterey Bay’s local fishermen, Calder Deyerle, and his 10-year-old son and first mate, Miles. The dinner is set for March 24th, from 6-9 pm, and will include delicious, locally caught seafood dishes, stories from the sea, and a discussion on how to make good seafood choices.

To reserve your spot for the Wild Fish event, email wildfishpg@gmail.com or call (831) 373-8523 or go to wild-fish.com. A portion of the event’s proceeds will support the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust’s Community Seafood Program. This program provides healthy, sustainably harvested seafood to local families, farmworkers, seniors, and others in need while supporting our local fishing economy. To date, we have donated 21,500 nutritious seafood meals, thanks to the generosity of our funders and donors in the community.

The March 24th dinner at Wild Fish also marks the beginning of a series of “Get Hooked” restaurant events that we’ll be hosting throughout the Monterey Bay region, starting in April 2022. Adapted from our prior “Get Hooked Restaurant Week,” this new iteration will include ongoing pop-up style dinners at various restaurants from Monterey to Santa Cruz. You’ll have the opportunity to dine at many of your favorite spots, meet with members of our local fishing community, and experience chef’s interpretations of seafood caught in your backyard, always with a side of seafood education, stories, and fun.

If you’d like to have a heads up on upcoming “Get Hooked” dinners, sign-up for our monthly newsletter, or send an e-mail to info@mbfishtrust.org with the subject line entitled: Dinner Series Info.
