Workshop Purpose: Following recent workshops in Alaska and Greater Atlantic, the central purpose of this National Workshop is to share information about deterrents, listen to fishermen and learn about their encounters with marine mammals, then continue to work together to reduce fishery interactions, economic and time loss to the fishing industry, and marine mammal injury and death. NOAA Fisheries plans to principally engage commercial fishermen at this event, however, others who focus on deterrents are welcome to join the conversation.
