#FindYourSeafood Week

#FindYourSeafoodWeek Social Media Campaign & Toolkit

The Local Catch Network is excited to announce an upcoming social media campaign, #FindYourSeafoodWeek. The first-generation of the LCN Seafood Finder was created in 2011 to increase the visibility of small and community-based seafood harvesters participating in community supported fisheries (CSFs) and/or selling their catch directly to consumers. As LCN launches a new version of the Seafood Finder at the beginning of August, we are rallying around a social media campaign to celebrate the vital role small-scale and community-based seafood harvesters play in our food system.

We invite seafood harvesters, partner organizations, and community members to join us in spreading the word about community-based fisheries during #FindYourSeafoodWeek, hosted August 2-8, 2021.

The Local Catch Network has created a toolkit to help you join in and implement your own #FindYourSeafood campaign. The resources provided in the toolkit are designed to help seafood businesses, partners, and supporters:

  1. Bring local and regional attention to small-scale and community-based fisheries.

  2. Raise awareness of the socioeconomic and environmental contributions community supported fisheries make to society.

  3. Increase the public's awareness and access to local, regional and values-based seafood.

The toolkit includes:

  • Information about how to participate in the campaign

  • A suggested timeline with actionable steps + social media planning calendar

  • Content and data that can be used in social media posts

  • Social media graphics + customizable templates

  • A press release template to send to your local news outlets

  • Campaign hashtags and LCN social media handles

As part of the campaign we would like to amplify your work by showcasing your photos and stories. Please contact Jordan (jordan.richardson@maine.edu) , Local Catch Network Coordinator, by July 16th if you would like for LCN to share your photos on LCN's social media platforms and website.
