BOEM Fisheries Mitigation Guidance Development West Coast Workshop

REGISTER AT THIS LINK

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), in consultation with the National Marine Fisheries Service and affected coastal states, is developing guidance to inform plans and environmental reviews for mitigating impacts from offshore wind projects on commercial and recreational fisheries and fishing. The first step in this process is a series of dialogues to:

1. Present the process for developing draft guidance to key stakeholders and answer questions.
2. Provide information on how to submit comments during the public comment process.
3. Receive comments on key issue areas.

Participants will provide ideas and considerations on how to shape the topics in the draft fishery mitigation document that BOEM is developing. BOEM is inviting written comment in response to its Request for Information between November 23, 2021 and January 7, 2022. These sector-focused meetings will provide an additional opportunity for stakeholders to provide comment. The amount of time speakers will have to provide oral comment at the meetings will be based upon the anticipated number of commenters.

This discussion is intended between BOEM and the sectors and geographies noted in the schedule. We ask others to primarily listen to the proceedings simply to ensure that those sectors be afforded ample time to participate.
