The Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust will be facilitating a fishing community meeting to discuss next steps and actions to ensure access to the non-trawl RCA remains an agenda item on the 2020 Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) work plan.
At the November PFMC meeting, the Council decided to remove the item from the March agenda because of limited staff availability. Although this topic is anticipated to be on the agenda later in the year, we want to make sure that further delays are avoided.
The community meeting on January 29th will review non-trawl RCA’s and develop a plan for aggregating community support to be shared at the March meeting. Support may include public comment, presentations, and/or letters of support.
This has been a long-awaited discussion. We encourage you to join us to identify how we can work together to make sure this topic remains a Council priority.
